]]> We have just completed a refurb for Balmer Direct Ltd. They had a rather dated, tired looking eCommerce website that was in much need of improvement.

After analysing their market, competitors and Analytics data, we were able to create new look for their company that boasted many new features to ultimately improve user experience; including improved navigation, faster checkout process, good call-to-action and a clean profession look.

We had to work to a strict deadline and managed to turn the whole project around in just 2 weeks!

]]> Unless you’re a particularly avid Mac user, you’ll almost certainly have come across what has become universally known as Window’s ‘Blue Screen Of Death’ – the screen you’re greeted with when your PC encounters a serious problem or error and needs to restart. A source of particular frustration for Windows users, the screen has remained the same across all versions of Windows OS for years – that is, until Windows 8 hits the stores.

Microsoft have finally given the Blue Screen Of Death a redesign for the latest version of Windows, offering up something a little more friendly and a little less worrying:

Perhaps not as useful to those who are familiar with lines of code, the message is certainly more user-friendly when it comes to the average PC user, and the ‘You can search for the error online’ section is an excellent idea for helping the majority of people figure out what’s wrong with their computer.

]]> Adobe have recently confirmed the arrival of AIR 3 and Flash 11 in October, announcing that they will be available on several different platforms, including iOS, Blackberry Tablet OS, Mac OS, Android and Windows.

AIR 3 will deliver native extension support and ‘captive runtime’, as well as stability improvements and simplified app installation on mobile platforms. It will also allow rental options for content publishers as well as HD video quality across all supported platforms.

Perhaps the most exciting elements of the announcement however is the 3D graphics capability of Flash 11; allowing for console-quality games on supported platforms (including mobiles and tablets). Check out the preview below, taken from the Triceam YouTube channel:

With some drastic improvements regarding 2D capabilities and support for hardware-accelerated 3D graphics, Flash 11 and AIR 3 can deliver rendering performance around one thousand times faster than the previous versions.
