‘Responsive Design’ is a fairly new term when it comes to web design, coined around three years ago as a reaction to the proliferation of internet browsing via mobile and tablet devices. We’ve already written a post defining exactly what the term refers to, but with continued questions and confusion regarding the practice we thought we write another quick post with some interesting and ‘must know’ facts.
If you’re a web designer, graphic designer, coder or app builder, then you’ll no doubt be aware of the huge volume and variety of online tools and resources available to you – from colour schemes to coding programs and everything in between, chances are if you need a quick reference guide, useful tool or time-saving resource to help with your design or coding projects, there will be something online that can help.
Infographics have seen a massive surge in popularity over the last few years, and it’s fairly easy to understand why. Quite apart from their usefulness in building links for SEO purposes, infographics are an exceptional format for the visualisation of complex information and for improving engagement, retention and recall (making them ideal for educational, training and internal communication purposes).
We’ve always been fond of creative data visualisation here at Pixel Design Studio, and the recent proliferation of infographics online has delivered some superb examples of taking pertinent or interesting data and turning it into something visual and far more engaging than it’s more traditional text-based counterpart. Admittedly it’s also resulted in some terrible infographics, but that only heightens the pleasure of finding one that interests, engages or entertains an online audience.
In the same way that infographics present information in a visual and engaging way, typographic art can take a familiar or interesting message and present it in a far more visual and enhanced medium. It’s not always easy to do, but the effort can be more than worth it when you’re left with a piece of art that not only portrays a message, but enhances it through the combinations of design, visuals and typography.
